Alerts available in Google Scholar

Though no official announcement has been made at this time,  Google Scholar seems to have recently activated a feature which allows users to create a search alert on a topic (or author) and a citation alert for specific articles:

In the screenshot above,
click on the envelop icon after a search or click on the Cited by 84 link to create a citation alert.

  • This seems to be still in development,  if you create alerts while logged into an existing Gmail account, the alerts will automatically be directed to that account.  To cancel your alert go here (gmail users only)
  • If you do not have a Gmail account, you can enter any email address and you will receive a notification which includes a “Cancel” this alert link. Be sure to save this email.
